History
King of the Court (KOTC) is Australia’s premier streetball tournament, founded in 2019 in Melbourne. Since its inception, KOTC has grown into one of the most exciting and culturally significant street basketball events, attracting elite players, passionate fans, and a thriving community from across the country.
Bringing KOTC to Japan
With its rapid expansion and increasing international recognition, King of the Court is now set to arrive in Japan. This event will bring together Japan’s best streetballers, blending the country’s deep basketball culture with the authentic streetball energy that KOTC has built over the years. More than just a competition, it will be a movement—uniting players, fans, and communities through the love of the game.
More Than Just Basketball
KOTC has evolved beyond just competition, becoming a cultural festival that fuses basketball, music, fashion, and community spirit. Events like “Who’s Got Next”, a rap battle where artists compete for the title of “King/Queen of the Mic”, have added a dynamic cultural layer to the tournament.
Growth and Expansion
In 2024, KOTC hosted its 7th edition at RMIT A’Beckett Urban Square in Melbourne, drawing over 1,500 fans to witness high-intensity 3x3 battles, 1x1 duels, and an electrifying dunk contest. That year also marked the debut of Queen of the Court (QOTC), a dedicated women’s 3x3 tournament, bringing some of the country’s top female streetballers into the spotlight.
